Rick is a Pulitzer Prize-winning photojounalist who travels the globe on assignment for newspapers, magazines and wire services. He has photographed U.S. Presidents, foreign heads of states and prominent business leaders as well as the Super Bowl, Olympics, World Series, Stanley Cup finals and playoff games in every major professional and college sport. Rick's images have appeared in Time, People, Sports Illustrated, Arizona Highways and Sunset magazines, the New York Times, The Times of London, MSNBC, Chicago Tribune, LA Times, USA Today, Boston Globe, St. Petersberg Times, Seattle Post-Intelligencer, Rocky Mountain News and the San Jose Mercury-News as well as dozens of national and international newspapers, magazines and websites via the Associated Press, Reuters and the European Pressphoto Agency.
Rick has served on the faculties of seminars and conferences designed to train U.S. and international photo staffs in the use of digital photographic equipment.
Awards and honors:
During his decade at the Rocky Mountain News in Denver, Rick was responsible for converting the photo department from film-based photography to the use of all digital photographic technology. This task included not only using digital cameras, but also transmitting the images back to the Rocky Mountain News from across the globe so they could be published in the next day's paper.
He has served on faculties for seminars and conferences designed to train U.S. and international photo staffs as well as members of the armed services in the use of digital photographic equipment, computers and software.
After his career with the Rocky Mountain News, Rick started his freelance photography business in 2004. He specializes in editorial, sports, advertising, portrait and wedding photography. He currently photographs all major news and professional sporting events in the Rocky Mountain region for the European Pressphoto Agency.
